What to do before you dive in
There are so many people that just dive right in to live changes and then decide that they’ve failed, when really they either didn’t prepare, or it wasn’t a fail. Yet they take that set back as a fail and turn it into a failure. This is especially true when it comes to dieting. Looking great in those jeans isn’t just about losing weight. It’s about feeling good about yourself. That’s the hard part of the job.
There are temptations at every corner, and when you stare one down and walk away you are going to be proud of yourself. So think about this. It is more difficult to modify your behavior then to think about the consequence of that doughnut. You may think you can just say no, but when that super delightful Beyond Glazed doughnut is staring you down it’s not as easy as it seems. So what’s the problem. Is it you? No. It’s everything around us. It’s the smells, the ads, the opinions of the friends you are out with. Everyone one of those items makes it harder for you to stick to your guns. The best you can do is to plan ahead and make sure that you will be less tempted. Bring a stick of gum for just that moment. Realize that it’s not you failing. It’s your environment and when you learn to work within it and to give yourself options that work, you’ll make the decisions you want to.
As an added support listen this week to Danna Korn (the Gluten-Free Guru)as she talks about Tacking Giants. It may help you figure out how to tackle your own on this journey. And don’t forget, if you can get there, you are really ready to dive in to your new lifestyle.

Google adds a tracking tool to IGoogle
So – you want to track your calories easily?? I am loving the iGoogle Calorie Tracker. The widget on your iGoogle page is created by Lab Pixies. LabPixies is a leading provider of personalized web gadgets that was acquired by Google in April 2010. They are the makers of my beloved weather widget for Weather Bug. They state that “Calorie calculator, a simple way to monitor you daily calorie intake, to easily manage your diet and meals. Use the calorie calculator to see each meal’s calorie details and sum up your daily total.” And it’s fun! And free. What a winning combination.
And believe me when I say that calories are everything in the numbers game… in the health game it’s a different feature, but if you are trying to lose weight you need to connect to those calories number. Weight control is managed or lost by either too few calories or too many. This is a proven science. Ever heard Jillian Michaels say calories in calories out. It’s like a game. So what better way then to have some fun with it with a winning application. You know you are gearing up to check it out right now.
