Starting the Ultimate Reset… and emotions
I’ve been interested by the emotions that have come to the surface with the pending Reset and moving… I think the video speaks for itself.
So this is my motto going into this and I’ll be trying to remember it every step of the way.

Read the labels
I love being a nutritional leader. And as such I feel like you need to know about anything new on the market – that may or may not be in something you are thinking about drinking or eating. I told you all about Fibersol syrup and Fibersol-2 (just corn people … but a new brand of it) Now let me teach you a new ingredient: They say it’s more affordable… but do you know what’s in it? “SolaGrain”. Do you want to know what that is? It’s mostly a filler, and full of corn and soy. SolaGrain is:
Soya protein extract (soy)
Soya protein extract (soy)
Oat fiber
Soya fiber (soy)
Psyllium
Maltodextrin (corn)
Linseed fiber
Beet fiber
Linseed protein
Cellulose
Thickening agent: guar
Emulsifier: Lecithin (soy)
I saw this as a main ingredient in a new protein shake called ProFit by ItWorks. That same drink also contained Sustain-It… again more soy. Do you realize that soy is in everything these days, and it’s changing your body because it’s like estrogen. And the plastics in your environment are like estrogen. Do you really want to save a couple dollars by buying a cheaper product and raise your cancer risk? And soy is very bad for men. Men’s Health says ” The unassuming soybean has silently infiltrated the American diet as what might just be the perfect protein source: It’s cheap and vegetarian, and could even unclog our hearts. But there may be a hidden dark side to soy, one that has the power to undermine everything it means to be male/ Read more at Men’s Health: http://www.menshealth.com/nutrition/soys-negative-effects#ixzz1qKozNLds
I love the ItWorks wraps, but I think that you can’t compare broccoli to oranges. One of these shakes has much more dense super nutrition than the other. The proof is in the ingredients and the fact that even Discovery and Oprah have talked about the amazing superfoods and the extent that Beachbody goes to to get these ingredients for you – well again you can’t compare them. Shakeology is just a better product, and better for you. Make sure you keep these things in mind when shopping. Don’t let yourself buy something that is the pink slime of the protein shake world. My daughter drinks Shakeology (1/2 a scoop) every morning. I HAVE to be okay with what she is putting into her little body. It’s a healthful choice for me, not a monetary one. Drink Shakeology – Health Simplified!
So when you see someone posted the ad below… remember the real comparison and what it means for your health. Be educated.

Read the ingredient lists on any product that you will eat or even just put on your body. Where do the sugars and carbs come from? Are they mostly from a natural fruits? DO you care if you have no sugars, but also get none of the super antioxidant protection for your body at a celular level? One of the reasons I loved the ItWorks wraps was the quality of ingredients. Just like with Beachbody I don’t love every supplement they put out – and I won’t promote every product of theirs because of it. Read, think, buy only the best products for your body. YOU are the key and YOU are what matters. Take care of YOU will you?

Options to green smoothies on the go & for your kids
Green smoothies do make a difference!! I make my own, as well as drink Shakeology – but sometimes I cannot do that. When I am not at my Vitamix… I am not mixing the greens. Motivation Monday

Motivation Monday: Stephanie M. lost 87 lbs. and 9″ off her hips!!! Here is her story:
Stephanie started struggling with her weight in her 20′s, and after two pregnancies it spiraled out of control. She says, “I was ashamed of how I looked, but too tired to do anything about it. I went back to work full time after the birth of my second son in 2008, and was the heaviest I’ve ever been – at 227 lbs on a 5’7 frame. My youngest son did not sleep well through the night, so I was functioning on only 2-3 hours of sleep while working 45 hours a week. I was exhausted, emotionally and physically. I was depressed and too tired to care, but deep down I did care. A lot. I turned to food to help me cope, and before I knew it I was binging on cookies and cake to help numb the pain. I was sitting on my kitchen floor at 2am eating a cupcake, as I had just gotten the baby to sleep again. That was my reward to myself. I ate it in 2 bites, and as I stared at the empty wrapper, I started to cry. What was I doing to myself? My kids deserved a healthy mom. Why would I want to deprive them of that? I couldn’t even chase after my oldest son in the back yard. I knew then that I needed to change, for them and for me. I was losing weight and feeling great, then this past February my family received news that would forever change our lives. My 2 year old nephew was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, an aggressive type of brain cancer. I felt that same pain coming back, and the numbness was trying to set in. I didn’t want to exercise or eat right. I kept thinking “why should I? What does it matter?” We went to see him the night he was diagnosed. He was sitting up in bed with the brightest smile, pushing his truck. My heart was breaking and tears were streaming down my face, but he was able to smile and be happy. Given a survival rate of 25%, St. Jude’s accepted him with open arms. He is in his 7 month of treatment there, and after the successful removal of the tumor, all of his scans have come back clear! My nephew is facing a challenge that no one should ever have to face. He helped me gain my perspective & find my inner strength again.”
There are going to be amazing challenges in your life, and when you think you have them licked, there may be another challenge just around the corner. Keep your perspective – find your inner strength every day. If Stephanie can do this, you can do anything! Connect with me and let’s get your journey started today.

The secret of calm
My daughter is so active, and at night she can really be hard to get to bed. It’s always been that way. We’d put her in her crib and walk away, and then we’d watch her for an hour on the monitor TV while she played. We always have joked that you finally know she is asleep when mid-sentence she just stops talking and is out. Even when I was pregnant the few times I drank a iced black tea with no sweetener she would immediately go straight to sleep.
Last month we started using lavender essential oil…. you know to calm. No such luck. In fact I would rub some on her feet and she’d babble for even longer than usual. It was like some cruel joke of mother nature. And what was sad is that she wanted it to work. I finally thought it was working, and then I would realize that she was just trying really hard to go to sleep – but it wasn’t working.
So step into the headache zone. My daughter had a headache so bad that it brought her to tears. So I rubbed some peppermint essential oil on her head and she was great. But for a while she was very calm. Interesting. So I decided to see how it worked at bedtime. I actually did it just the way I did for the headache. I rubbed some on my hands and then rubbed it on her head. She was asleep within fifteen minutes. THAT NEVER HAPPENS! Ever!! We’ve been using it every night since, and it’s the key for her.

The ADHD brain needs help to calm in the rapid storm, and I’ll take any assistance I can get to help my girl. Learn more about essential oils at LifeEssentially.com

Things to teach your daughter
Okay… I have a daughter. So this was the best blog post I have read in a while and I had to share it.

One of the best bits of advice was: Teach your daughter to like and respect herself and demand respect from those around her. She might end up lonely at times, but at least she won’t be a doormat.
One of the funniest bits of advice was: Don’t let your 9 year old dancer look like a 25 year Pussycat Doll.
But my favorite of all was: Teach your daughter that her choices in life are limitless. She really can do anything – except maybe use the Men’s Restroom. (although I have to admit … she can even do that! In fact my daughter and I used it at the pizza place just the other day with the Okay of the management.)

Pregnancy and natural health
I’ve had a lot of conversations about essential oils and pregnancy / breast feeding. I thought since I’m gearing up to do a Dr. Mom Natural Family class I would share a little information on the oils and oil blends that I would recommend. It’s easy to be overwhelmed with the information on the internet – and I want you to focus on the moment and what you are experiencing because it’s amazing!

Morning Sickness: ginger, peppermint
Back Pain: AromaTouch, Balance, Deep Blue, frankincense, lavender, marjoram, Serenity, ylang ylang
Edema (swelling): AromaTouch, cypress, ginger, lavender
Varicose veins: cypress, geranium
Constipation: DigestZen, ginger, peppermint
Hemorrhoids: cypress, geranium, helichrysum
Stretch marks: frankincense, geranium, helichrysum, lavender
When pregnant , you should be extra careful about essential oil safety. Use only 1/2 the strength of essential oil, if it is a safe one. Don’t use any during the first 3 months. Know your essential oil before using it when you are pregnant, because some should be avoided completely. Better yet, avoid it on the skin if you aren’t sure. Lavender is not to be used until after you’re past your first 3 months. After that there are no precautions listed.
Lavender does help lower the blood pressure, so you may want to keep this in mind if you have low blood pressure. Most of us like this effect.
“Be cautious about using essential oils during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester. Even oils that are generally safe during this time may be too stimulating for women who are prone to miscarriage.” (Aromatherapy, A Complete Guide to the Healing Art, by Kathy Keville & Mandy Green).
The following partial list of essential oils gives the prevailing wisdom on how essential oils may be used during pregnancy:
· Those oils ok to use: bergamot, coriander, frankincense, geranium, grapefruit, lavender, lemon, sandalwood, wild orange, ylang ylang
· Oils that for some would be better used with a carrier oil or diluted in other ways: clove, cypress, eucalyptus, ginger, helichrysum, lemongrass, marjoram, melaleuca, myrrh, oregano, peppermint, Roman chamomile.
· Consult a physician before using these oils: basil, cassia, cinnamon bark, clary sage, rosemary, thyme, vetiver, wintergreen, white fir.
· Additionally it is noted that peppermint used during the latter part of pregnancy or after child birth can limit milk production in some mothers.
It should be noted the thoughts expressed are that the doTERRA oils are tested and certified (CPTG) and this extra measure of purity explains why these oils can be used with confidence. These posts may not be true of other essential oil brands.

Healing philosophy or the knowledge of long life
Ayurveda is a healing philosophy native to India. Ayurveda in the Sanskrit: आयुर्वेद; Āyurveda meaning “the knowledge for long life” In Sanskrit, words āyus, meaning “longevity”, and veda, meaning “knowledge” or “science”.) I love this, and many of you may not know that Bija is the Sanskrit term बीज bīja meaning literally “seed”. I came the term Bija with yoga a long time ago – yes even though I have a hard time with it I’ve been trying for many decades to get it right. Bija
is used as a metaphor for the origin or cause of things which has been the practice of my business from the start. To get to the root of things. … so back to ayurveda.
Massage and meditation are both considered Ayurveda practices of medicine. It’s what we like to call a “whole medical system” plan. This is based on 5 elements including Ether, Earth, Water, Fire, and Air that compose both the universe and the human body. These elements are grouped together to create three Doshas. This is unique, in fact there are several aspects to Ayurveda that are quite unique:
- Its recommendations will often be different for each person regarding which foods and which lifestyle they should follow in order to be completely healthy. This is due to it’s use of a constitutional model.
- Everything in Ayurveda is validated by observation, inquiry, direct examination and knowledge derived from the ancient texts.
- It understands that there are energetic forces that influence nature and human beings. These forces are called the Tridoshas which we are talking about here today.
- Because Ayurveda sees a strong connection between the mind and the body, a huge amount of information is available regarding this relationship.
When you are unbalanced your body will be unhealthy. If you’ve balanced your body PH naturally, why not try to balance your dosha as well?
Ayurvedic theory suggests that each human possesses a unique combination of the doshas and that they define the person’s character and attributes. Think of it as grandfather time’s philosophy of all of the personality type studies in modern times. I train based on personality types in my personal training sessions – and you will work with others based on your personality traits as well. Personality comes into play so much in our lives, and that is why I think we are seeing such a resurgence in the Ayurvedic practices.
Below I will talk about the Tridoshas. The Vata Dosha is Ether and Air. The Kapha Dosha is Earth and Ether. A person can be strong in any one dosha but have attributes of all doshas. The Pitta Dosha is Fire and Water.
Want to discover your prominent dosha? Take this [dosha test] and find out.
Once you know what your dosha is, you can begin to help keep yourself in balance through following the aryuvedic principles for proper eating, exercise, & meditation. Essential oils also also recommended to help keep your dosha in balance.
doTERRA’s certified pure therapeutic grade oils can be used to help balance the Doshas:
Vata Dosha: Associated with the elements of ether and air, vata types are quick thinking, thin, and fast moving. They are active and creative and have a natural ability to communicate. When unbalanced, vatas can have high anxiety and fast moving emotions.
If you are the Vata type, you may need oils that help to ground, balance, and warm your dosha. Oils such as basil, cypress, frankincense, geranium, and rosewood will help the vata stay balanced. doTERRA’s Whisper Blend and Balance Blend as well as Geranium single oil would be a good fit for Vata types. The Vata Balancing Kit is $71 with a Wholesale Membership or $94.67 Retail. Purchase the retail kit below, or sign up for a preferred customer account for just $10 to get discounts, or a wholesale account for $35 dollars by clicking here.

Kapha Dosha: Associated with the elements of earth and water, kappa types are patient, forgiving and slow to anger. They are loving and become easily attached. When they are unbalanced, kaphas can become lazy or stubborn as well as greedy.
If you are the Kapha type, you may need oils to help help lift and stimulate. Oils such as rosemary, eucalyptus, marjoram, melissa, lemon, peppermint would help you stay balanced. doTERRA has two great blends for the Kapha type. Elevation Blend to lift you up and Breathe Blend to clear the air passages. Grapefruit single oil would also be an excellent to help with balance. The Kapha Balancing Kit is available for $73.00 Wholesale or $97.33 Retail. Purchase the retail kit below, or sign up for a preferred customer account for just $10 to get discounts, or a wholesale account for $35 dollars by clicking here.

Pitta Dosha: Associated with the elements of fire and water, pittas are passionate and intense. They have a joyful disposition but they are subject to anger, jealousy, and short tempers when unbalanced. There is often a need to cool off and clarity the mind.
If you are a Pitta type, you may need calming and cooling oils to keep the fire element balanced. Oils such as Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang, and Lavender would be great for cooling and calming. Oils such as Grapefruit, Sweet Orange, and Lavender would be good for a refreshing massage. doTERRA’s Citrus Bliss Blend and Serenity Blend would be perfect for the Pitta type. As well as Lavender single oil. You can purchase all three Pitta Balancing Oils for $66.00 Wholesale or $88.00 Retail. Purchase the retail kit below, or sign up for a preferred customer account for just $10 to get discounts, or a wholesale account for $35 dollars by clicking here.

A Wholesale Membership is $35 to enroll and you’ll get wholesale pricing on all doTERRA products

Simplify your life
It’s a new year, and time to simplify so that you can spend more time and effort on the things that matter the most to you. Discovering how easy it is to use essential oils really is one of those things that simplifies a life. For starters, my daughter has a major dust mite allergy, which we now live in the Dust Mite Capital here in the Northwest. The house dust mite has been associated with a range of respiratory and dermatological allergies, such as asthma and eczema. The main component of dust is shed skin flakes, which is the mite’s preferred food source. Areas around the home that are heavily used, such as beds and upholstered furniture, will have higher mite populations. So how do we deal with this? Wash sheets and pillowcases weekly in water hotter than 131° or when washing in cold water, use a commercial product containing essential oils, like eucalyptus or tea tree oil.
Speaking of the wash, I worked for many years as a Restaurant Manager. My clothes always smelled like Chinese Food. Seriously. The new smell culprit in my life is my workout clothes. For good smelling towels, sheets, or even workout clothes just place a few drops of Lemon Essential Oil to the washer will remove greasy/oily/icky smells.
Another little one story, my daughter suffers from the same ADHD symptoms that my husband does. He has a hard time winding down after a long day of programming. SO here is my solution. Place a 2-3 drops of Lavender Oil onto a small piece of terry cloth and toss into the clothes dryer to scent your bed linens with that calming scent. To really preserve the scent of essential oils used in the dryer, add them and run on a ‘no heat’ cycle for a few minutes at the end of the drying cycle. Research has confirmed that lavender produces slight calming, soothing, and sedative effects when its scent is inhaled
