Are You Eating Beyond Organic?

Many of you may know my good friend and natural health expert Jordan Rubin, CEO of Garden of Life, and author of The Maker’s Diet.

Jordan is about to launch a new company called Beyond Organic, which will offer the world’s healthiest foods, including:

  • Beyond Organic GreenFed Beef
  • Beyond Organic raw cheese
  • Beyond Organic 100% GreenFed cultured dairy beverage
  • REIGN – mountain spring water with unsurpassed purity
  • REIGN infused spring waters for enhanced performance in life
  • Beyond Organic certified organic dark chocolate with probiotics and omega-3s

There are MANY significant features that set these foods and beverages apart from what you would find in health stores.

For example, we have all seen “organic” and “grass-fed” beef at Whole Foods.  But did you know that organic beef requires that the cows consume 30% grass?  Only 30%!

Jordan Rubin’s new company is taking 8,000+ certified organic acres in Missouri and Georgia to raise cattle that are free roaming, Green-Fed, and genetically superior cows. (By the way, Green-Fed is a more correct description than grass-fed, and you will learn more about that in future newsletters).   You can click HERE for several videos that describe the products.

One reason I am very excited about this company is rather than putting this food in health food stores; Beyond Organic will be skipping the middleman and will ship these foods directly from their farm to your family!  It has always been a huge pain for me to try and get grass-fed beef, and especially raw dairy products.  You know if you walk into Whole Foods what that can turn into. My visit quickly turns into $200 instead of $50 because of all of the impulse items that I see there. And they are mostly processed foods that really aren’t that healthy for you anyway. But now, with Beyond Organic, the foods and beverages come to me!

Another feature that sets this product line apart is the infusion of clinically studied probiotics. Probiotics are the naturally good flora that are so important to supporting digestive function and boosting immune system health.

Also, the dairy products are produced by cows with specialized genetics −producing milk that is highly tolerable and very digestible.

I have never been a huge fan of direct selling companies because often produce inferior products at inflated prices.  You know that I have had great success, however, as a Team Beachbody coach where I found the my soul workout program, TurboFire. But when I found this company I have to say, these are literally the best quality foods and beverages I have ever seen, and they will provide real value to everyone who purchases them. For the same reason I am in love with Shakeology, it’s that reasoning that made me fall in love with Beyond Organic.

An area of focus for Beyond Organic that aligns very well with my beliefs is their mission to help feed and clothe widows and orphans by partnering directly with ministries and other non-profit organizations. Their groundbreaking program called “Give a Meal, Get a Meal” is powerful, and once you get set up as an Insider you can watch all these amazing videos and see the vision for yourself!

Healthy Food that Tastes Amazing!

I ONLY advise my friends and family to eat what I eat, and these are the foods I will be eating every day.  And now, I am inviting you to do the same.

Organic Brew

So what sort of miracle does my husband want for Easter? It’s an Organic Kolsch. Wikipedia defineds Kölsch, also written Koelsch, as a local beer speciality brewed in Cologne, Germany. It is a clear beer with a bright straw-yellow hue, and it has a prominent, but not extreme, hoppiness. It is less bitter than the standard German pale lager. Furthermore,

Kölsch is warm fermented at a temperature around 13 to 21°C (55 to 70°F) and then cold-conditioned, or lagered.[1]

This manner of fermentation links Kölsch with some other beer styles of central northern Europe, such as the Altbiers of  northern Germany and the Netherlands.

My husband has started the process using organic grains and starting the mash process. Why organic? Why not? Wouldn’t you want to have your beer organic?

And he picked up his organic grains at The Beer Nut in his compostable bag, of course.

A little cheese with your whine??

I hear a lot of people whining about the prices of entertaining this time of year. It can be especially hard when you are trying to go the organic route. But you can entertain at the same level as last year when you are buying organics if you just watch your pricing and go for the store brands, and the items that are on sale.

Going into the holiday season a lot of people are picking a few bottles of wine for dinners, and parties. So what would you recommend? The west coast has a variety of well priced wines that are sure to please all of your guests, and they are organic to boot. Oregon’s Ponzi Vineyards has a creamy textured Pinot Gris that is vibrant in ripe pear and fig flavors. This one is perfect for those holiday sauces and goes well with the rich dark meat turkey, pastured of course. This one goes for about $17 a bottle.  Out of California the 2003 Full Circle Chardonnay is a nice pale yellow gold with apple notes and a little pear aroma. It’s a good tart, fruity taste, with a little warmth that is a surprising finish to such a low cost wine. This one runs about $8 a bottle.  Washington state’s Badger Mountain 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon has no sulfites added, which I love!! Sorry. Not a sulfite girl. It’s forward blackberry and cherry aromas are complimented by wood spice and toast. It’s got the flavors of currant, blackberry, and black cherry framed by a really yummy vanilla and spice.  And this goes for about $14 a bottle.

So don’t tell me you can’t entertain and stay green this holiday – because I’ll know it’s rubbish. And if you can try to stay close to home within a day’s travel at most. I’m sure there are organic wineries coming about all over the US, so you are sure to find one in your area that you will love.

Are you changing the food system… really?

I read a really great article about the food system. It almost made me slap myself – and call myself names. It’s a harsh article, really. It was a good one to read though.

I do feel good about the changes that I’m making, they are just that though, slow changes. Am I doing enough, hell no. Should I be doing more, yes. Will I continue to do more, of course I will.

An article like this is good to help you see where you are and how you are doing in the living fresher lifestyle. It will help you to develop a game plan for the changes in your life. GO … Read… live….

This is a really interesting post at Grist.org by Rebecca Thistlewaite of Honest Meat: http://www.grist.org/article/food-do-you-have-the-balls-to-really-change-the-food-system/
