Starting the Ultimate Reset… and emotions
I’ve been interested by the emotions that have come to the surface with the pending Reset and moving… I think the video speaks for itself.
So this is my motto going into this and I’ll be trying to remember it every step of the way.

30 Days
It’s not a long amount of time… thirty days. If you think about it sometimes it can seem forever. My daughter thinks 30 days is forever. Myself, it seems to be something that you can accomplish. Just thirty days. For me, this next 30 days is going to be a change for more than you might think. So I’m giving myself 30 Days to redefine the purpose of my business, how I use my time, and even how I get my nutrients. So far I’ve been amazed at how just narrowing down to your true authentic YOU really makes a difference in where you are going.
Today I was working on the cardio mix for my summer training and this is the set I think I’m going with to start out with.
Borderline (Funk Beat Mix)
Groove Is In The Heart
Relax
Lucky Star
Heart Of Glass
One Thing Leads To Another
Pump Up The Jam
Twilight Zone
18 Strings
Red Alert
Erotic City
Shake Your Groove Thing
Talking In Your Sleep
It’s the real me, and it’s the me that I love. That music speaks to who I am. Where are you going to be in 30 Days?? Share what you want and let’s get there through this journey together.
Click on the box (above) SLC if you want to attend an event on Saturday the 7th. Saturday, April 7, 2012 @ Salt Lake City CrossFit and to get your 30 day program started.

Eating For Small And Happy Fat Cells
One thing that is hard for people to wrap their head around is that their fat cells are there to stay.
This isn’t horrible news because your fat cells have an incredible ability to not just expand, but shrink as well.
So you can get the lean body you desire without losing a single fat cell; you just need to make them smaller.
Here are three simple diet tips to help you keep your fat cells small and happy.
1. Reduce, Don’t Eliminate Your Carbs – Cutting out carbohydrates entirely from your diet isn’t the best idea for most people.
Yes, very low carbohydrate diets do work, but you can get just as good of results by reducing and rearranging your carbs just a little bit.
Here’s what to do. Grains (like breads, pasta, rice, oats, etc.) and starchy carbs (like potatoes) should be eaten first thing in the morning and directly after you exercise.
So if you don’t exercise before dinner, no potatoes for you (read in your best Soup Nazi voice).
The rest of the time, fill your plate with vegetables (especially green leafy and fibrous ones) and some fruit.
Pretty simple huh?
This simple reduction and rearrangement of the carbohydrates in your diet will have you eating carbs when your body is hormonally ready for them, making fat loss more efficient.
2. Eat More Raspberries – Researchers have found that a group of antioxidants in raspberries, called raspberry ketones, can impact your fat loss hormones at the gene level. (You may have seen this on the Dr. Oz show the other day. If not… take a look at this video –>)
Raspberry ketones have been shown to increase gene expression of the hormone adiponectin.
This is a hormone released from your fat cells that causes you to burn more calories.
Raspberries also have lots of fiber (9 grams per cup!) – one more reason that they are a great weight loss food.
3. Drink Green Tea – This last tip is going to help shrink your fat cells and help stop you from growing new ones.
Studies involving the antioxidants found in green tea show that they actually stop the maturation of your fat cells, preventing them from growing into mature immortal fat cells.
Drink green tea every day to aid in this process. As a side benefit, the combination of the antioxidants and caffeine naturally found in your daily cup of green tea, have also been shown to shrink your waistline. Drink up!
These three diet tips are very easy to implement and follow. Put these three simple steps into your diet to start losing weight faster and more efficiently.

Anti-Sopa Blackout
You are an agent of change. Has anyone ever told you that? Well, I just did, and I meant it.
Normally we stay away from from politics here at the official WordPress project — having users from all over the globe that span the political spectrum is evidence that we are doing our job and democratizing publishing, and we don’t want to alienate any of our users no matter how much some of us may disagree with some of them personally. Today, I’m breaking our no-politics rule, because there’s something going on in U.S. politics right now that we need to make sure you know about and understand, because it affects us all.
Using WordPress to blog, to publish, to communicate things online that once upon a time would have been relegated to an unread private journal (or simply remained unspoken, uncreated, unshared) makes you a part of one of the biggest changes in modern history: the democratization of publishing and the independent web. Every time you click Publish, you are a part of that change, whether you are posting canny political insight or a cat that makes you LOL. How would you feel if the web stopped being so free and independent? I’m concerned freaked right the heck out about the bills that threaten to do this, and as a participant in one of the biggest changes in modern history, you should be, too.
You may have heard people talking/blogging/twittering about SOPA — the Stop Online Piracy Act. The recent SOPA-related boycott of GoDaddy was all over the news, with many people expressing their outrage over the possibilities of SOPA, but when I ask people about SOPA and its sister bill in the Senate, PIPA (Protect IP Act), many don’t really know what the bills propose, or what we stand to lose. If you are not freaked out by SOPA/PIPA, please: for the next four minutes, instead of checking Facebook statuses, seeing who mentioned you on Twitter, or watching the latest episode of Sherlock*, watch this video (by Fight for the Future).
Some thoughts:
- In the U.S. our legal system maintains that the burden of proof is on the accuser, and that people are innocent until proven guilty. This tenet seems to be on the chopping block when it comes to the web if these bills pass, as companies could shut down sites based on accusation alone.
- Laws are not like lines of PHP; they are not easily reverted if someone wakes up and realizes there is a better way to do things. We should not be so quick to codify something this far-reaching.
- The people writing these laws are not the people writing the independent web, and they are not out to protect it. We have to stand up for it ourselves.
Blogging is a form of activism. You can be an agent of change. Some people will tell you that taking action is useless, that online petitions, phone calls to representatives, and other actions won’t change a single mind, especially one that’s been convinced of something by lobbyist dollars. To those people, I repeat the words of Margaret Mead:
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
We are not a small group. More than 60 million people use WordPress — it’s said to power about 15% of the web. We can make an impact, and you can be an agent of change. Go to Stop American Censorship for more information and a bunch of ways you can take action quickly, easily, and painlessly. The Senate votes in two weeks, and we need to help at least 41 more senators see reason before then. Please. Make your voice heard.
*Yes, the latest episode of Sherlock is good. Stephen Moffatt + Russell Tovey = always good

Things to teach your daughter
Okay… I have a daughter. So this was the best blog post I have read in a while and I had to share it.

One of the best bits of advice was: Teach your daughter to like and respect herself and demand respect from those around her. She might end up lonely at times, but at least she won’t be a doormat.
One of the funniest bits of advice was: Don’t let your 9 year old dancer look like a 25 year Pussycat Doll.
But my favorite of all was: Teach your daughter that her choices in life are limitless. She really can do anything – except maybe use the Men’s Restroom. (although I have to admit … she can even do that! In fact my daughter and I used it at the pizza place just the other day with the Okay of the management.)

The year to believe
This week I’ve been sitting here feeling pretty alone way up here in WA while all of my friends are in UT. And many of my friends had amazing experiences this week working out with one of my favorite people, Chalene Johnson.

But when I see those smiling faces – I can’t be at all upset that I wasn’t there – I can only be happy that they were!!
There are tens of millions of people who have tried unsuccessfully to lose weight, and yet I meet amazing people in my business every day that have done it! What’s the secret? Well I know that there are two amazing things that have helped me. First is that I choose a program I loved and that worked. TurboFire. Second, I reached out to others for support. That is what made Beachbody so attractive to me in the first place. I’m a life coach. I have all of the data to give you, the meal plans, the life direction… and yet when it came to weight my clients were failing… and frankly so was I. What? That’s right. I was reading all of the data and yet the weight wasn’t budging a bit.
And then Turbo to the rescue. Beachbody has sought out those people that know what works. It does. Turbo Jam, TurboFire, ChaLEAN Extreme – these are all programs that work. Chalene knows what she is talking about. And she is so motivational. Yesterday she posted, “People “beat the odds” everyday. Don’t let society dictate to you what you can and can’t do. If your heart is pulling you in the direction of your calling, then follow it. Only you know what your purpose in life is. Don’t cheat the world out of your gift, by allowing the opinions of others to overshadow your truth.” That’s a big part of that puzzle you know? Someone believing in you. And she does. She believes with all her heart.

This year is the year of believing. Do you believe?
Get on board and make the changes you need to this year. If you need my help, just ask. You know I’m here for you. And when you realize and believe in yourself… I’ll want to hug you, and wish I was there, but I’ll be happy that you were here today.

Here and there. Heart and head. I still believe
I’m sitting here in Kirkland, WA… and my body is here, my mind is here. I know that I am MEANT to be here right now. My love of my life is here, the love of my belly is here. The rest of my heart is in Utah. My system is in two different realms of living right now. Here and there. Heart and head.
I’ve been dreaming of finding the core ideas to take my passion to where I always wanted it to be. Had I not come to WA, I would not have found the answers. If I was in Utah, I’d have a million places to use these new tools. But here – it’s all new. Here and there. Heart and head.
In Utah I would be knocking on doors and shaking my bootay tomorrow with Chalene Johnson in Park City. Here I’ll be rushing around, and shaking my head at the traffic. Here and there. Heart and head.
Here I am meeting new people, taking on new challenges, learning to stand on my own. In Utah I would supported by my amazing friends, counting on my community and branching out slowly. Here and there. Heart and head.
It’s okay to be here, and it’s okay to dream about there. It’s okay to want that, while learning to be this. I think that sometimes we have to be in two places at once – I am stretched across the rainbow bridge. In Norse mythology, Bilröst is a burning rainbow bridge that reaches between Midgard (the world) and Asgard, the realm of the gods. According to the Prose Edda, the bridge ends in heaven. And so being so close to two realms, is indeed where we all live on most days anyway. We have one foot firmly on Earth with the moments we are living right now. Connecting with people that we meet and are geographically closest too. Then we have one hand reaching to the Heaven’s trying to attain our dreams and holding onto something of the ones who have gone on before us. Here and there. Heart and head.
Although I have days like this where I’m feeling a little lost being here, it’s okay. It doesn’t matter what people say, And it doesn’t matter how long it takes, Believe in yourself and you’ll fly high, And it only matters how true you are, Be true to yourself and follow your heart.
Life is changing. I am going to have to re-learn how to fly, and I have everything I need … Here and there… Heart and hand. When I’m standing in the dark… I still believe.

The season of tummy pain.
It’s that time of year, we get the abdominal cramps from foods, from germs, and from stress. I’ve seen many cases of traveler’s issues from friends every travel season. You never know how your system is going to do when you overindulge during the holidays, and it happens often over a number of months right in a row. How do you think your system takes that? As it continues through the season, you may find you feel it more often. So let’s talk about short term to get things moving again. First you want to look at essential oils. And before I explain what to use I want you to know why essential oils work.
ABDOMINAL CRAMPS try: DigestZen, Basil, Clary Sage
Usage: take internally in a capsule, or apply topically to abdomen.
Many essential oils have been recognized through research as powerful agents to help restore normal balance in the digestive system. DigestZen™ takes advantage of these well-established therapeutic compounds in a proprietary blend of pure essential oils. Ginger, peppermint, tarragon, fennel, caraway, coriander and anise each have specific attributes which add to the overall efficacy of this potent blend. When used internally, dōTERRA®’s DigestZen brings soothing digestive relief. For aromatic, topical, or dietary use.
Single oils contained in this blend:
- Ginger
- is warming, uplifting, and empowering. It can help influence emotions, physical energy, love and courage. Because it has a calming influence on the digestive system, it can help reduce feelings of nausea and motion sickness.
- Peppermint
- serves as an anti-inflammatory to the prostate and the nerves. It is soothing, cooling, and dilating to the system. It can also help with food poisoning, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, halitosis, colic, nausea, and motion sickness.
- Tarragon
- is useful in helping reduce anorexia, dyspepsia, flatulence, intestinal spasms, nervous and sluggish digestion, and genital urinary tract infection.
- Fennel
- can help support the digestive function by supporting the liver. It may also help balance the hormones.
- Caraway
- is antiparasitic and antispasmodic. It may also help with indigestion, gas, and colic.
- Coriander
- is antispasmodic and ha anti-inflammatory properties. It may also help with indigestion, flatulence, diarrhea, and other spasms of the digestive tract.
- Anise
