Life can be easy if you learn to simplify the complications.

The most complicated part of our lives I find revolves around the simple things... like what you eat.

Over a year ago I took a challenge that changed my life. I signed up to take a 21 Day Kickstart Vegan program, and I was completely Vegan except for my Shakeology (which is also now in a Vegan Formulation) for 7 months of 2011. The changes I saw in my life were so amazing I can't even begin to share all of them here. Let's just say that as my food choices simplified, my life did as well. 

My family isn't Vegan, but when they do eat meats they eat only Grass-fed, pastured meats that we know are from the best quality sustainable sources. Why are plants and pastures so important to simplificaiton of our lives?

Since 1972, women's overall level of happiness has dropped, both relative to where they were forty years ago, and relative to men. You find this drop in happiness in women regardless of whether they have kids, how many kids they have, how much money they make, how healthy they are, what job they hold, whether they are married, single or divorced, how old they are, or what race they are.  Why?? Part of that is the fact that we have far too many choices in our day - and all of those decisions do not make our lives easier. It's more complicated. It is not that women are less happy because they have a choice, it's just that choices don't create change, just more choices.

When you are looking at a jumble of foods in the supermarket, how do you make that choice? It is often a very stressed out time for you - either you are rushed to get back to your family, and responsibilities; or you are driving around a cart of one or more children that are just about to drive you to the point of insanity. We release the stress - the cortisol takes over - and we end up reaching for everything we don't want in our kitchens. It is a cycle of destruction in our lives that causes more sugar overload, more carb cravings, more reasons for depression and a life that you want to give to someone else.

Dr. Oz has said it... automate your meals. That doesn't mean you should buy 14 TV dinners and have one every night. It means you select healthy items that work, and use them over and over again.

How do I do this and why should it matter to you? Food, as you may have figured out by now, fuels so much more than just your stomach.  You are a complicated machine and it's meant to be your everything. So make it simple, and how I've done this is by adding back in natural real foods and made it easy using my Vitamix 5200. So let's start there.
